Alexander G. Ramm, Professor in Mathematics in the Department of Mathematics at the University of Kansas, will come as a visiting professor in June 2011. He will give one lecture on Many-body wave scattering. Prof. Alexander G. Ramm is Professor of Mathematics in the Department of Mathematics at the University of Kansas since 1981. He obtained his PhD in Moscow State University, 1964 and his Dr.Sci. at the Mathematics Institute, Academy of Science, Minsk, 1972. He worked as an Instructor, Leningrad Institute of Precision Mechanics and Optics, 1962-63, Assistant Professor, Leningrad Institute of Precision Mechanics and Optics, 1964-65, and Associate Professor, Leningrad Institute of Precision Mechanics and Optics, 1965-78.

Dr. Ram Gupta is an Associate Vice President for Research and Support and a Professor of Chemistry at Pittsburg State University. Gupta has been recently named by Stanford University as being among the top 2% of research scientists worldwide. Before joining Pittsburg State University, he worked as an Assistant Research Professor at Missouri State University, Springfield, MO then as a Senior Research Scientist at North Carolina A&T State University, Greensboro, NC. Dr. Gupta’s research spans a range of subjects critical to current and future societal needs including: semiconducting materials & devices, biopolymers, flame-retardant polymers, green energy production & storage using nanostructured materials & conducting polymers, electro catalysts, optoelectronics & photovoltaics devices, organic-inorganic heterojunctions for sensors, nanomagnetic, biocompatible nanofibers for tissue regeneration, scaffold & antibacterial applications, and bio-degradable metallic implants. Dr. Gupta has mentored 10 PhD./Postdoc scholars, 76 MS students, and 58 undergraduate/high school students.

Roman Sobolewski is a Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Physics, and Materials Science, as well as a Senior Scientist of Laser Energetics at the University of Rochester, Rochester, NY, USA. He received his PhD and DSc (Habilitation) degrees in Physics from the Polish Academy of Sciences, Warszawa, Poland, in 1983 and 1992, respectively. In 2006, he was granted the State Professorship of the Republic of Poland. In 2015, he was named a Distinguished Fellow of the Kosciuszko Foundation Collegium of Eminent Scientists of Polish Origin and Ancestry. Dr. Sobolewski is the Optica (former OSA) Travelling Lecturer, as well as the European Union ERASMUS+ Lecturer. His current research interests are concentrated on ultrafast phenomena in condensed matter, novel nanostructured semiconducting, spintronic, and superconducting devices and materials, single-photon quantum detection and quantum communications, and on generation and detection of THz radiation transients and time-resolved THz spectroscopy imaging. He has published over 400 peer-reviewed papers and presented well over 200 invited conference talks, lectures, seminars, and colloquia worldwide.

Professor Raman Singh’s primary research interests are in the relationship of Nano-/ microstructure and Environment-assisted degradation and fracture of metallic and composite materials, and Nanotechnology for Advanced Mitigation of such Degradations. He has also worked extensively on use of advanced materials (e.g., graphene) for corrosion mitigation, and stress corrosion cracking, and corrosion and corrosion-mitigation of magnesium alloys (including for the use of magnesium alloys for aerospace, defence and bioimplant applications). Prof Singh’s professional distinctions and recognitions include: Guest Professorships at ETH Zurich (2020, 2023, 2024), editor of a unique book on non-destructive evaluation (NDE) of corrosion, editor of a book on cracking of welds, editor-in-chief of an Elsevier journal and two MDPI journals, member the Editorial Boards of a few journals, leader/chairperson of a few international conferences and over 60 plenary/keynote lectures at international conferences, over 265 peer-reviewed international journal publications, 15 book chapters/books and over 100 reviewed conference publications, and several competitive research grants (that include 4 Discovery, 7 Linkage and one ITRH grants of Australian Research Council). Prof Singh has supervised 53 PhD students. His vibrant research group at Monash University comprised/comprises of PhD students from different disciplines (Mechanical, Chemical, Materials and Civil Engineering, and Science) as well as from different cultural backgrounds (Australian, Eastern, Chinese, Malaysian, Indian, African, American, and Israel).

Dr. Zhifeng Huang obtained B.Sc. in Chemistry (in 2000) and M.Sc. in Physical Chemistry (in 2003) at Xiamen University (China), and Ph.D. in Science and Engineering of Materials at Arizona State University (US, 2007). After working as a postdoctoral fellow in Department of Electrical and Computing Engineering at University of Alberta (Canada, Jan. 2008 � Aug. 2009), Dr. Huang joined Department of Physics at Hong Kong Baptist University (HKBU) as an Assistant Professor and was promoted to Associate Professor in 2015. In 2022, Dr. Huang joined Department of Chemistry at The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK), as Associate Professor. Dr. Huang is member of The Hong Kong Young Academy of Sciences, and serves as Vice President in Hong Kong Materials Research Society.

Robert J. Griffin, PhD, is a Professor of radiation and cancer biology in the Department of Radiation Oncology at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences with over 20 years of experience in peer-reviewed research. Much of his work has been studying the interactions of normal and tumor microvasculature with tumor cells, blood flow, hypoxia and the general tumor microenvironments role in responses to radiation, thermal treatment, or chemotherapy. He has acted as President and program chair for the Society for Thermal Medicine, which has an emphasis on nanotechnology for thermal treatments in a variety of modalities. He is also active on the program committee for the Radiation Research society as well as on the annual meeting and scientific council committees for the American Society of Radiation Oncology. Currently, he is also associate senior editor for biology for the International Journal of Radiation Oncology Biology and Physics.

Prof. Engang Fu has a record of over 20 years of research. Fu's main field of focus is Fluence, Crystallographic defect and Radiation damage. Fu is currently doing research at Peking University. Michael Nastasi and Xi Zhang have given noticeable influence on Fu.

Tao Zhu, male, Ph.D., professor, director of institute of atmospheric environment management and pollution control, China university of mining and technology (Beijing). More than 100 papers have been published in domestic and foreign journals, including more than 30 SCI papers (including Environmental Science & Technology, Energy, Journal of Hazardous Materials, etc.) and more than 30 EI papers. In the past five years, 30 new patents have been applied for and more than 10 patents have been authorized for invention, of which 6 patented technologies have been popularized and applied. Published 8 books, including 4 monographs.

Carlos Frajuca worked as a professor for 32 years at Rio Grande Federal University / Sao Paulo Federal Institute with Experience in the detection of gravitational waves, materials, electromagnetic transducers, and high-speed machines. Professor for 32 years with administrative experience as a research and teaching director and research and teaching Pro-Rector and substitute Rector of Brasilia Federal Institute. His research interests in High-speed machines gravitation; high mechanical Q materials and electromechanical transducers. He got a Brazilian research productivity award from CNPq. His score in the research gate maximum (48.43) is higher than 97.5% of Research Gate members.

Prof. Alexander G. Zestos is an Associate Professor of Chemistry at American University in Washington, D.C. and a member of the Center for Neuroscience and Behavior. He completed his BS/MS degree in Chemistry from the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, VA in 2008. There, he performed research with Dr. William H. Starnes, Jr. on the use of metal-clay additives and ester thiols to promote the smoke suppression, fire retrardance, and thermal stability of poly(vinyl chloride). He completed his PhD in Chemistry in 2014 at the University of Virginia, where he worked with Dr. Jill Venton and investigated the use of alternative carbon nanomaterials for enhanced neurochemical detection using fast scan cyclic voltammetry. From 2014-2017, he was a postdoctoral research fellow in the Departments of Chemistry and Pharmacology at the University of Michigan and was co-mentored by Professors Robert T. Kennedy and Margaret E. Gnegy. There, he developed microdialysis and liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry assays to measure neurochemical dynamics. He is an electroanalytical chemist who uses carbon-fiber microelectrode sensors to detect neurotransmitters and biologically relevant molecules using fast scan cyclic voltammetry.

Benjamin Thomas Chu is a Chinese-born American chemist. Chu received his secondary education at schools in Shanghai and Hong Kong. He moved to the United States in 1953 to attended St. Norbert College on scholarship. Chu earned a doctorate in radiochemistry from Cornell University in 1959, and started work as a research associate of Peter Debye. Chu began his teaching career at the University of Kansas in 1962. He joined the State University of New York at Stony Brook faculty in 1968. That same year, he was awarded a Guggenheim Fellowship. Chu was named a leading professor of chemistry in 1988, and appointed to a distinguished professorship in 1992. Chu has received the Humboldt Research Award twice, in 1976 and 1992, and was elected fellow of the American Physical Society in 1992.

Prof. Manuel Filipe Costa holds a PhD degree in Science (Physics) from the University of Minho (Portugal) working since 1985 at its Physics Department teaching and performing in applied research in optical metrology, image processing, optometry and optometric instrumentation, material sciences, optical coatings and nanomaterials production and characterization, as well as in optics, physics and science and S&T education, particularly: optical dimensional metrology including the development of optical microtopographers based on active triangulation, optical based non-destructive evaluation methods and tools for nanomaterials and surface coatings, thin films production and characterization for optical applications and thermal and corrosion barriers, image processing, skin cancer optical diagnosis, optometry, optical instrumentation and sensors, solar energy, solgel' diffraction gratings, and on pedagogical aspects of undergraduate teaching of physics and optometry, as well as on science education and literacy. He presented over four hundred invited, oral or poster communications at international meetings and published around the same number of scientific papers, monographs and books.

Dror Malka earned his BSc and MSc degrees in Electrical Engineering from the Holon Institute of Technology (HIT) in Israel in 2008 and 2010, respectively. Additionally, he completed a BSc degree in Applied Mathematics at HIT in 2008. In 2015, he obtained his Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from Bar-Ilan University (BIU) in Israel. Currently, Dr. Malka serves as a Senior Lecturer in the Faculty of Engineering at HIT. His primary research interests encompass nanophotonics, super-resolution, AI silicon photonics, and fiber optics. He has authored approximately 55 refereed journal papers and 55 conference proceedings papers, accumulating over 1000 citations.

Reinhard Schwarz studied Physics and Mathematics at the University of Stuttgart, Germany, and did a Ph.D. in High Energy Physics at the University of Neuchatel, Switzerland. After a postdoc at Princeton University, where he worked on amorphous silicon based solar cells, he started his own research group at the Technical University of Muenchen, Germany. He focussed on new deposition methods and transport studies in amorphous superlattices. He is author or co-author of some 200 publications in refereed journals and co-inventor of a cyclyc chemical vapor deposition method for silicon and carbon based thin films. Currently, he is an associate professor at the Physics Department of Instituto Superior Tecnico, Lisbon, Portugal, with research on recombination and transport in wide-band gap semiconductors prepared by pulsed laser deposition.

Paul KIEKENS was a Full Professor at Ghent University, Belgium. He was Head of the Department of Textiles at Ghent University from 1988 till the end of 2016. In January 2017 he became Head of the Department of Materials, Textiles and Chemical Engineering (MaTCh) with nearly 300 people one of the largest academic departments in the world. He is a graduate (Master in Chemistry) from Ghent University (Ghent, Belgium) and holds a PhD in Physical Chemistry (1982) and one in Materials (Textile) Technology (1987). He was Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Architecture, Ghent University (2002-2004). He was the executive coordinator of AUTEX (Association of Universities for Textiles) from 1994 till 2020 and the former president of ENMat (European Network of Materials Research Centers).

George Kordas studied physics and prepared a doctoral thesis in the materials science and technology department at the University of Erlangen, Germany. After that, he moved to Vanderbilt University, USA. He was appointed a "Quality Associate Professor" at the University of Urbana-Champaign in the United States. He was the research director at NCSR Demokritos and a Professor at the University of Patras, Greece. He was the CEO of the start-up company "Nano4Chem". He was Dozent at Nürnberg Tech, Germany; Visiting professor at the Universities. of Sao Paulo and Sao Carlos, Brazil; the Korean Institute of Technology, and Teadok University, Korea; Kyoto University, Japan; and Weston Prof. WIS, Rehovot, Israel. He received the awards: IAAM "Scientific Medal," IAAM "Advanced Materials Award," Megagrant Recipient, Department of Education, Russian Federation, ERC Laureate (Twice), and Μember of three LS7 (AdG, CoG & StG) ERC panels, KAS Fellow and DAAD Fellow, Germany.

Prof. Malgorzata Grabarczyk was born in Lublin, Poland, in 1969. She received the M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in chemistry from Maria Curie-Skłodowska University (MCSU), Lublin, in 1993 and 2002, respectively. She joined the Department of Analytical Chemistry and Instrumental Analysis, Faculty of Chemistry, MCSU, in 1994, as a Research Assistant, and after defending Ph.D., she was promoted to an Assistant Professor. In the year 2019 she received the title of professor. She has authored more than 130 articles, of which 84 were published in journals indexed in Journal Citation Reports (JCRs) database. She has a wide range of interest in electrochemical and environmental analysis, including voltammetry strippinganalysis, speciation analysis, and trace analysis.

Prof. Cecylia Wardak received the Ph.D. degree in analytical chemistry in 2004 and her DSc degree in analytical chemistry and electrochemistry in 2015 from Maria Curie Sklodowska University (MCSU), Lublin, Poland. Since then she has been working as associate professor in the Department of Analytical Chemistry of Maria Curie-Sklodowska University. She is an active COST member. Her main scientific interests are research, development, and analytical applications of electrochemical sensors and biosensors. Her latest research focused on the use of nanomaterials and composite materials in the construction of ion-selective electrodes with solid contact. To date, she has published over 100 peer-reviewed scientific papers.

Manuel Pedro Fernandes Graça (MPFG) is graduated in Physics Engineering (1998) from Aveiro University (UAveiro). In 2000 he finished his Master's degree in Science and Materials Engineering and completed his Ph.D. in Physics in 2006, in cooperation between the University of Aveiro and the Federal University of Ceará (UFC) in Brasil. After the Ph.D.,he worked, as director of the Energy Department, at Prirev-Surface Technology S.A. and after as principal researcher at UAveiro and i3N. MPFG is an associated professor at the Physics Department of UAveiro and invited professor of the postgraduate master course of Mechanical Engineering at the Federal University of Ceará in Brasil. He is specialized in experimental techniques in the area of solid-state physics, with a major focus on materials' electrical and magnetic properties and micro and nanomaterials processing. He is a member of the associated laboratory i3N, Institute of nanostructures, nano-modelling, and nanofabrication since its foundation.

Bella Manshian is a group leader at the Nanohealth and Optical Imaging group at KU Leuven. Bella’s research focuses on nanotoxicology and the manipulation of nanomaterials for in vivo theranostic applications. Bella has been using multimodal and multiparametric in-vivo imaging, of mainly preclinical animal models, to assess disease mechanisms and therapy accompanied with screening of individual nanoparticle toxicity, the mechanisms involved and cellular-nanoparticle interaction kinetics. Bella’s main interest is in developing non-invasive methods for the dual function of visualization and tracking of specific cell types with a strong focus on tumor cell, stem cells, immune cells and beta cells while simultaneously delivering therapeutic agents.

Miss. Sabina Vohl is a technician and Ph.D student at the Faculty of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, University of Maribor. She graduated from Chemistry at the University of Maribor. Her research interests are synthesis and functionalization of magnetic nanoparticles and synthesis of magnetic zeolite nanocomposites. Her main research focus is the use of various magnetic materials for removing micro and nanoplastics from water. She participates in the pedagogical process at the Faculty of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering at the University of Maribor in General and Inorganic Chemistry, General Chemistry, Nanochemistry and Materials, and Thermal Analysis. She has been involved in a number of projects for industry and in European projects.

Dr. Janja Stergar is an assistant professor at the Faculty of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering at the University of Maribor. She graduated from Chemical Engineering and completed her doctoral thesis at the University of Maribor. Her research interests are synthesis and functionalization of magnetic nanoparticles, characterization of magnetic nanoparticles into functional materials for biomedical and technical applications. Her main research focus lays in exploiting alternating magnetic field-driven heating of magnetic nanoparticles for biomedical applications. Recently, however, the focus has increasingly been on the use of magnetic nanoparticles in technical applications, particularly in the field of wastewater treatment. She teaches at the Faculty of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering at the University of Maribor in the subjects of General and Inorganic Chemistry, General Chemistry, Nanochemistry and Materials and Thermal Analysis. She has participated in a number of projects for industry and in European projects.

Dr. Weiming Xu obtained his PhD degree from the Imperial Cancer Research Fund in London and Chinese Academy of Sciences in Shanghai. His first postdoctoral training in the University of Cambridge. He then worked as the Group leader in Babraham Institute, UK and Senior Research Fellow in the University College London, later as a Senior Research Associate in the University of Sheffield. He has published more than 60 scientific papers in peer-reviewed journals with over 2,000 citations(ISI).

Dr Kotecha has expertise and experience in cutting-edge research and projects in AI and Deep Learning for the last 25 + years. He has published more than 145 Scopus indexed papers and has published 3 patents. He has been invited at various forums to deliver a keynote address in the field of AI at Machine Intelligence lab at USA, Pretoria University, South Africa, IIT Bombay under World Bank Project, Global Meet on Sensors and Sensing Technology, at Italy, 2nd International Congress on AI and Machine Learning at the Czech Republic and many more. Professor Sukhdev Roy received the PhD. degree from IIT Delhi in 1993 and subsequently joined the Dayalbagh Educational Institute, India, where he is at present the Head of the Department of Physics and Computer Science. He has been a Visiting Professor at Harvard, Waterloo, Würzburg, Regensburg, Osaka, City University and Queen Mary University of London, TIFR, Mumbai and IISc. Bangalore. He has won a number of awards and has published 175 research papers and 11 book chapters. He was the Guest Editor of the March 2011 Special Issue of IET Circuits, Devices and Systems Journal (UK) on Optical Computing. He is an Associate Editor of IEEE Access and a Fellow of SPIE, the Indian National Academy of Engineering, the National Academy of Sciences, India, IETE (India), and the Optical Society of India and is listed in the Stanford’s Study of the Top 2% in World Ranking of Scientists in Optoelectronics and Photonics, 2023

Yahia CHERGUI is an assistant Professor in Electrical & Electronics Engineering Institute, Boumerdes Algeria. He has completed his PhD from Badji Mokhtar University in Annaba, Algeria. He did all his PhD work in Cardiff University in UK. His research field is Physics(condensed matter, and soft matter simulation by molecular dynamics). He has many published articles and international conferences. He has been serving as a referee with condensed matter journal (IOP), Energy journal (Elsevier), and American Journal of Modern Physics.

Dr. Rita Rosentsveig, PhD, is a Senior Staff Scientist in the group of Prof. R. Tenne at the Department of Materials and Interfaces, Weizmann Institute of Science, with many years of experience in peer-reviewed research. She has an extensive experience in the synthesis of inorganic fullerene-like nanoparticles and inorganic nanotubes by gas phase and solid-gas reactions, including studies of growth mechanism. She has designed and constructed unique chemical reactors for high temperature syntheses in a toxic environment. She scaled-up some of these reactors, which are now used for manufacturing tens of tons of such nanoparticles annually. Over the last years, Dr. Rosentsveig has focused her efforts on the doping of inorganic fullerenes and the investigation of their properties.

Biography Daesung Park obtained his Ph.D. in condensed matter physics at University of Warwick, UK, in 2015. Following that, he pursued postdoctoral research at the ZIK Si Li-nano institute in Germany from 2016 to 2018, and subsequently at EPFLin Switzerland from 2018 to 2022. He is currently an assistant professor in the Department of Energy Conversion and Storage (DTU Energy) at Technical University of Denmark, Denmark. His recent research interests and focus are the development of new bio-compatible energy conversion oxide materials, ranging from atomic scale to microscale. This includes finding emergent piezoelectric, pyroelectrics, and ferroelectrics with fundamental understanding in physics and material science. His research expertise includes functional oxides, thin film growth, defect engineering, interface engineering, magnetism, and electromechanical coupling.

Postgraduate student at the São Paulo State University (UNESP). Bioprocess Engineer and Biotechnology. Main research areas include: synthesis and characterization of polymeric Nanomaterials applied to drug delivery for pharmaceutical applications, animal cell culture, photodynamic therapy, photo sensitizers and tissue engineering.

Dr. Kahouadji has a PhD in physics, option: physics of materials since April 2017, teacher researcher at A.Mira university of Bejaia –Algeria-, faculty of technology. He is working on nanomaterials based on rare earth orthophosphates in collaboration with two laboratories: Laser Department/ Nuclear Research Centre of Algiers (CRNA), Vinča Institute of Nuclear Sciences, University of Belgrade. Since approximately 7 years his research is entirely devoted to the development of luminescent materials and scintillators for medical and nuclear applications . He has managed 4 master project as director and 1 PhD thesis in progress. He has published more than 18 international papers.
